Today, on February 21, at the initiative of the assistant of the Department of Languages of Shushi University of Technology Gayane Sargsyan at Stepanakert Primary School No. 5 named after Hayk Balasanyan hosted an event dedicated to the International Mother Tongue Day, which was attended by the Rector of ShUT Nver Mikaelyan,the faculty, students and invited guests.
The event began with a minute of silence: those present paid tribute to the memory of the sons of the Armenian people who died in the Artsakh struggle for survival. Then the Vice-rector for Educational and Scientific Works Rosa Avagyan made an introductory speech. Congratulating on the Mother Tongue Day and appreciating the role of the mother tongue in preserving the faith and existence of the Armenian people, Avagyan noted: “The Armenian language was a powerful weapon for the Armenian people in protecting their identity, their national independence and culture, this is how it differs from other nations. So, we will love and preserve our beautiful native language, because it is a guarantee of our existence, our history and, at the same time, our future.”
“Saint Mesrop Mashtots created the spiritual weapon of the Armenian people – our beautiful alphabet, each letter of which is an invincible soldier. Our language is holy, like Mother and Mother Motherland. He is our breath, our blood, our soul. It is our present and future,” said the organizer of the event, G. Sargsyan.
At the end of the event, Rector Nver Mikaelyan presented the students with certificates of appreciation for their activity.
